STEM@Home

Let your students access their science practicals outside of the classroom.

For Teachers and Schools

STEM@Home provides curated boxes of GCSE science experiments, to help your students practice, revise and prepare for their AQA or Edexcel exams.

Biology

What better way to learn about the world around us than by exploring it with Biology? Our boxes help students understand how the world around them functions, which is a key component in understanding all other science topics. We teach children how to present this knowledge in a clear and accurate way.

Chemistry

Chemistry is often seen as the most dangerous and scary of science but that's not true. Chemists spend their time understanding how different elements interact with each other, predicting what will happen next.

Our chemistry boxes help students develop these crucial critical thinking skills.

Physics

Many children feel that physics is the most difficult one of the three sciences. We want to show students that Physics is not just about maths. Physics also requires an understanding of how energy works around us. We aim to show more children how simple physics truly and help them do well in their exams.

For Parents: Why?

Up to 40% of a GCSE science exam is based on observations and understanding of practical experiments your children will have tried in the classroom. Like many things in life, the more times children can practice these experiments the better they will understand the topic. Unfortunately, most schools don’t have the time or resources to be able to conduct these practical experiments more than once.

How?

Each box contains three different required practicals for Biology, Chemistry and Physics alongside workbooks with past exam questions and guidance.

STEM@Home gives your students the chance to repeat these experiments at home, at their own pace and without the distractions of the classroom. With a greater understanding of the relevant topics, your students will be well on their way to getting higher grades in their GCSE exams. We believe supplementing their learning by reinforcing the concepts taught in school is key to improving results. Our products currently support the AQA and Edexcel specifications.

This is what we learnt…

The biggest hurdles to running experiments at school tend to be time and money respectively

Around half of the teachers don’t (or can’t) re-run experiments

At least 75% of our sample considered experiments important to get a good grade in GSCE science matters
